Now that Thanksgiving is behind us our attention shifts toward Christmas. I know for our house Christmas is a very busy time. As a matter of fact, my wife begins our Christmas season about 4:00 am the Friday following Thanksgiving. The fast pace only speeds up!
During this time of year, as fast as it comes and goes, I somehow manage to find time to think about different angles of the Christmas story. Boy, what an exciting story it is. We get to read the wonderful Christmas story where an exciting announcement is given about the wonderful Savior coming into the world, we see the preparation for our new King, and then we see the miraculous birth. What a story!
There is one thing about this wonderful story that is often forgot about. Joseph and Mary were just as busy as we are today. Think about it--they were told they were the chosen ones to care for the Messiah. Next, we see they were persecuted because of this. Finally, we see them fleeing so Mary could have a safe delivery in stable. How busy must they have been? I don't know we can ever have a complete answer but I do know one thing for certain--as busy as they were they never forgot about what Christmas truly was about--the birth of God's only Son, Jesus. May you have a blessed Christmas this year.
